Professor James Smith is an ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellow (Young Men’s Health), Matthew Flinders Professor (Health & Social Equity) and the Co-Director of the Health Equity Impact Program within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute at Flinders University. He is based in Darwin and has lived and worked in the NT for more than 17 years, primarily in areas relating to men’s health, health promotion, and Indigenous health. James is the Global Vice President of Scientific Affairs for the International Union for Health Promotion and Education; a Fellow and Life Member of the Australian Health Promotion Association; a Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Managers; and immediate past Editor in Chief of the Health Promotion Journal of Australia. He currently Chairs the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Reducing Health Inequities Mission Expert Advisory Panel; and is the Deputy Chair of the Association for Alcohol and Others Drugs Agencies NT. He is also a national advisor to Ten to Men (Australia’s longitudinal study on men’s health) and The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre (TAPPC).
