Esther Gounder is a Counsellor at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) with a background in social work. Her career has focused on child, youth and family practice, mental health, community development and gender-based violence across clinical, community and academic settings. Esther has a research background in culturally responsive therapeutic practice with First Nations children and young people and contributes to social work education and workforce training in gender-based violence. She is also contributing to an NT PHN-funded project through SARC, partnering with Yolŋu community leaders to co-design culturally responsive domestic, family and sexual violence responses in East Arnhem Land.
