The Single Employer Model (SEM) enables Katherine Hospital to share NT Health employed doctors with primary care providers across the region. Rural Generalist (RG) Trainees are engaged for the duration of their training, enabling them to seamlessly rotate through hospital and GP placements while being paid by NT Health and accruing employment entitlements.

The SEM also enables RG and GP staff to undertake roles in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and private practice.

This presentation will highlight operational aspects of the SEM and explore its benefits and challenges.
