Talk – teach – treat shares the development and early learnings of cancer council northern territory’s indigenous fast-track cancer diagnostic program, delivered in partnership with katherine west health board and northern territory medical specialists. the presentation outlines a community-focused model designed to improve cancer awareness, support culturally safe conversations, identify cancer risk factors, strengthen local workforce knowledge, and improve access to cancer screening and timely referral pathways. “talk” focuses on building relationships and trust with communities, “teach” supports practical cancer education for staff and community members, and “treat” connects people with suspected cancer to specialist review and diagnostic support. the session also highlights how working closely with communities and collecting program learnings can help guide future cancer prevention, screening, early detection and research initiatives in remote and aboriginal communities.
