This presentation shares Urapuntja Health Service Aboriginal Corporation's experience delivering a healthy ageing program across the remote Utopia Homelands. Working in partnership with Elders and community members, the program has focused on supporting older people to remain active, connected and engaged through culturally meaningful group activities and outings on Country. The presentation will discuss how community leadership has shaped the program, the practical challenges of delivering services in a remote setting, and the positive impacts on social connection, wellbeing and cultural identity. It will also highlight key lessons learned and demonstrate why community-controlled, culturally informed approaches are essential to supporting healthy ageing in remote Aboriginal communities.
