This presentation shares lessons from efforts to support the ongoing delivery of primary care in 2 Northern Territory communities. Through case studies from Nhulunbuy, where uncertainty surrounds the Rio Tinto mine closure, and Berry Springs, where a nurse practitioner-led clinic is navigating regulatory barriers, the session explores the challenges of workforce shortages, building sustainable business models, and delivering care in remote areas. It reflects on what it takes to maintain access to general practice in remote Australia, highlighting the importance of strong local governance, trusted partnerships, and community-led, sustainable solutions.
